This is a list of questions most likely asked in
regard to the purchase and ownership of the My MC Gift Card.
What is a MasterCard Gift Card?
The MasterCard® gift card is
a prepaid card that lets you shop everywhere that Debit MasterCard® is
accepted. Your gift card looks like a debit MasterCard® or
credit card but it is a prepaid card that has a set dollar amount
limited to the amount of money placed on the gift card by the purchaser.
It’s the perfect gift that is great to get and so easy to
use.
How do I activate my gift card?
Your card will be activated within 48 hours of purchase. If you
have problems using the card after this time period, please contact
the financial institution where the card was purchased.
How can the card be used?
Your prepaid gift card can be used to make purchases at any mail
order, online and point of sale merchants that accept Debit MasterCard®.
Every time you use the gift card, the purchase amount is deducted
from the balance on the card. It is important to keep track of
your card purchases and to know your card balance before shopping
because merchants can’t determine the amount of money available
on your card.
To ensure authorized use, be sure to sign the back of your gift
card. Merchants will also ask you to sign a purchase receipt each
time you use your card for purchases at the point of sale.
How can I find out the balance on
my gift card?
Access your transaction history and balance information for free
online at www.mymcgiftcard.com. Or, if you prefer, you can check
your card information by phone at 1-800-840-0425.
What if I want to purchase something that costs more than the
remaining balance on my gift card?
At the retailer’s option, you may pay for your purchase
using a combination of your gift card, as well as cash, check,
or a credit/debit card. Notify the cashier that you would like
to pay for the difference/overage using another payment method
first, and then pay the remainder with the balance of your gift
card. Please note that most internet retailers will not permit
two forms of payment for a single purchase.
Are there any locations where the card cannot be used?
